Water level: preparing the measurement point

What to document about the site, level reference and installation before selecting a sensor.

Describe what you want to observe

A water level application starts with a description of the location and the variation you want to observe. State whether it is a tank, watercourse, well or another measurement point, and how long you expect to collect data.

The catalogue identifies MX2001-S as a water level sensor. This reference helps you explore the measurement family, but does not replace confirming a complete configuration for each application.

Define the level reference

To compare readings over time, document the point to which the level refers and the sensor position. Include a description of the mounting arrangement and how its position can be checked during site visits.

Where measurement depends on pressure, data interpretation and any compensation should follow the documentation for the chosen system. Confirm these requirements for the sensor, logger and accessories that will work together.

Confirm installation conditions

State the expected level range, water characteristics and access conditions. Cable length, fixing, protection and the ability to retrieve the instrument are points to discuss before selection.

A sensor presented separately may require other components to form a logging system. Do not assume that one reference includes a cable, logger or every accessory: read the product page and confirm the proposal's contents.

Organise the technical enquiry

  • Type of location and measurement objective.
  • Expected level range and reference used.
  • Characteristics of the medium and access conditions.
  • Existing equipment and available connections.
  • Logging interval and how data will be accessed.

The linked product page below presents the catalogue reference. Add it to the quote list and describe the measurement point to confirm the selection of the complete system.
